Master Brawl Stars: Gadgets, Modes, Hypercharges & More

Discover the ultimate guide to Brawl Stars, covering gadgets, game modes, hypercharges, and advanced strategies to elevate your gameplay.

Brawl Stars is the next game from the wildly successful creators of hit titles like Boom Beach, Clash of Clans, and Clash Royale.

Brawl Stars is a third-person, top-down shooter game where you play as your chosen Brawler and participate in various events. In these Events, you compete against other Brawlers to fulfil a distinct objective specific to each Event.

Players worldwide may engage in the ultimate combat in the 3v3 top-down shooter game Brawl Stars! You'll be able to unlock additional game types, enhance the attributes of existing brawlers, and unlock new characters as you go through the game!

Game modes

The objective varies depending on the game mode. Brawl Stars has four different game modes, but you have no influence over which ones are accessible at any one time because they are randomly picked.

Here's a quick overview of each game mode.

- Smash & Grab

Each side will collect crystals from the map's centre while combating the opposite team. When players die, they dump all their crystals on the battlefield. The first team to acquire and hold ten crystals for the 16-second countdown wins the game.

- Heist

In Heist, you can either be on the defensive or attacking squad. The defensive team must prevent the invading team from breaking into the safe containing all their crystals.

Each Heist battle lasts only 2.5 minutes. If the safe is still standing at the end of the countdown, the defending team wins. If not, the assaulting team will prevail.

- Bounty

Bounty is a traditional team-based death match. Collect stars for your squad by defeating opponents, but avoid getting picked off yourself. The side with the most stars after the game will be victorious!

- Showdown

The sole non-3v3 game style is Showdown, a 10-player free-for-all in which the last brawler standing wins!

Travel about the map cautiously since everyone is trying to murder you, and you will not respawn! Be on the watch for barrels, which hold power-ups that will give you an advantage over your opponents.

The longer you stay in a Showdown, the bigger the awards after the battle. Can you make it till the end?

Controls

Want to get your Brawler moving? Just drag your finger on the left side of the screen to operate the virtual joystick, and your Brawler will move wherever you pull. For some action, drag your finger on the right side of the screen to control the Attack joystick. Drag to aim, release to shoot- easy peasy! Feeling lazy? No worries!

Use the joystick for a quick-fire attack, and your Brawler will automatically aim at the nearest target (or the closest damageable thing if no targets are around, like players or Power Cube Boxes). If you change your mind about an aiming shot, move the Attack joystick back to the centre to cancel. Game on!

Each brawler has a killer Superpower, and it’s a game-changer. After killing enemy Brawlers, you charge your Super. Once it is ready to move, you can stop it with the red joystick on the right side of the screen, just below your Attack joystick.

Aim and shoot, or just hit and shoot at the closest range. And don't worry, your will stay super charged even if your Brawler touches the dust. To disconnect a target Super, pull the joystick back to the centre.

Do you like choosing accessories? No problem! You can tweak them in-game settings. Now, about those status bars on your Brawler’s head. The top bar shows your health- take damage, then go down. If it hits zero, your Brawler is down for the count. However, if you are not hit for 3 seconds, your health will begin to regenerate at 13% of your maximum health.

The second screen contains blocks showing how many attacks you have prepared. Most brawlers can stack three attacks, and each attack uses a block. These regenerate themselves over time.

Sometimes, a third bar at the bottom shows the Gadget countdown or Star Power charge. It is yellow when filled and sandy when fully covered. Ready to brawl? Let’s go for it!

Each Brawler has one or two optional Gadgets and two Star Powers. Gadgets are these fantastic, limited-use abilities you can unlock when your Brawler Power hits Level 7. You activate them with a button, get three uses, and then have a 5-second cooldown between each operation. But, heads up- Most Gadgets won’t charge your Super or reveal Brawlers hiding in the woods.

Gears, on the other hand, are passive abilities that you can unlock at Power Level 8. They are specific to each Brawler, and once you upgrade your Brawler to Power Level 10, you can wear two Gears at a time.

Then there are star powers. These passive abilities unlock at Power Level 9 and flash constantly- no buttons required, no cooldowns, just pure awesomeness. Some of them can even reveal hidden Brawlers if they do damage, max health up, or heal.

Now, let’s talk about Hypercharges! These activated abilities are unlocked at Power Level 11. You charge enemy Brawlers by killing them; once fully charged, you release them with the purple button on the right side of the screen, below the Super joystick.

The overload lasts 5 seconds, can be used indefinitely, and lights up your Brawler with purple flames. While active, they buff your supers and increase your speed, damage, and weaponry. Remember, though, that using Hypercharge does not reveal hidden Brawlers.

Oh, and some brawlers come with a trait- a passive ability always going on, regardless of their power level. Now it's time to go out and show everyone what your Brawler’s got!

Final thoughts

In Brawlers, properly using Gadgets, Gears, Star Powers, and Hypercharges is crucial in dominating the fight. Whether you’re creatively using limited-use Gadgets, using powerful Gears, or unleashing uncultivatable Star Powers and Hypercharges, each ability brings a different edge to your gameplay, so gear up, level up, and own Highlight the brawler's skills—because in this game, it's all about outsmarting your opponents and outdoing them with strategy!
